About the Moog Minimoog Model D

The Minimoog Model D is a self-contained monophonic analog synthesizer. Originally released in 1970, it was the world’s first portable synthesizer. The all-analog instrument combines the sound of Moog modular synthesizers with pre-wired modules, allowing it to be played without patch cables.

Features

  • Minimoog Model D is a self-contained monophonic analog synthesizer.
  • Originally released in 1970, Minimoog Model D was the world’s first portable synthesizer.

  • The front panel groups elements and controls by type—CONTROLLERS, OSCILLATOR BANK, MIXER, MODIFIERS, OUTPUT—in an intuitive and efficient design.
  • Model D uses color-coded rocker switches to establish connections between circuit elements.
  • A reference tuner pitched at A-440Hz is built into Minimoog Model D.
  • An external audio source can be introduced into Minimoog Model D via an input jack, allowing it to be processed, gated, and filtered.
